The quaint missionary town of Suurbraak is 2km away from Riversong.  The little village of Suurbraak lies in a fold of the Langeberg Mountains just down from the incredibleTradouws Pass.

It’s a former mission village that gives the word ‘quaint’ new meaning. The heart of the village of Suurbraak has been preserved, and the buildings that rest on the village square and the two church buildings have been restored. Suurbraak lies in what could easily be termed a little piece of paradise, and because it is not a commercial centre is left largely alone. The little village came into existence in 1812, as a mission village. Today people still cook on wood burning stoves, use donkey-drawn ploughs and horses and carts to get around – it’s really old-style living, mostly untouched by development.

The organic “Paradise” restuarant is a must for delicous home-grown meals.

Grootvadersbosch Nature reserve is situated 10km away from Riversong.  This magical nature reserve provides Mountain biking trails and beautiful hikes. http://www.capenature.co.za/reserves/grootvadersbosch-nature-reserve/

Bontebok National Park is just South of Swellendam, where game can be viewed. https://www.sanparks.org/parks/bontebok/

The beautiful Tradouws Pass is a nearby scenic drive, or for the more adventurous, cycle. Or, pack a picnic and spend some time exploring the numerous rock pools.

Barrydale is 20kms away.  Barrydale is a quaint Karoo town where you will fine restuarants and shops.
